Jason: How could such inequality exist in a city like Minneapolis with such a concentration of
wealth from companies like Target, Best Buy and 3M? It seems like there is plenty of financial
resources to address these issues. We have a guest today who is beginning to explore these issues
and is here to shed some light on this for us. Welcome Morgan McQueen ! It's great to have
you on the 'Real Life Problems With Real Life People' podcast.
Jason: Morgan, can you help the listeners understand the situation in Minneapolis by sharing your
perspective?
Morgan: I believe that what is happening in Minneapolis is a result of a century of picking away day by day at a stone house. The institutionalized racism that burns through the city has roots in red-lining and racial covenants, all of which have gone unregulated and untouched since their start. Through these physical barriers put in place in the city, it has created a cultural barrier of inequality that ultimately calls upon all of us to recognize where we can improve these communities that we have for so long ignored.
